About | Module 1
The Nutritional Risk Screening System (NRS System) is internationally unique as it is the only fully integrated nutrition screening system for nursing homes and hostels.
The Nutritional Risk Screening System integrates the NatFrame concept of
1. Care Processes
The nutrition screening of each resident guides the type of intervention that may be required, and supports evaluation of the effectiveness of any intervention initiated;
2. Accountability Processes
Includes strategies for measuring nursing home and hostel performance over time both internally (within the nursing home or hostel), and externally (between nursing homes and hostels).
Benefits
The benefits of introducing an integrated nutrition screening and management system include:
Cost Savings
-
the ready made fully integrated Nutritional Risk Screening System saves you the time, expense, effort (and potential error) of developing policies, procedures and accountability processes from scratch;
-
takes very little time to educate your staff and integrate into your systems;
-
early identification of changing nutritional risk status allows earlier intervention, proper use of nutrition support products and appropriate referrals to dietitians;
-
is quick and easy to complete - takes about 2 minutes if completed during Resident of the Day evaluations.
Documentation
Documentation supports compliance with Standard 2:10 Nutrition & Hydration, which requires that:
-
residents nutrition and hydration needs are assessed, documented, regularly reviewed and acted upon;
-
residents receive sufficient food and fluid to meet their nutritional requirements.
Improve Quality of Life
Earlier interventions mean faster resident recovery and more effective use of nutrition interventions.
Proven Effectiveness
Reliability and validity has been tested for the residential Aged Care sector through academic processes.
